Well, that’s Xmas out of the way and the New Year is in with the evenings already stretching out which just has to be good news. Very little cold weather to date but some very much needed rain. Huge winds a whiles back and lots of tree damage and the fishery is such a mess such that I’m basically starting the winter work all over again. I have managed to get a lot of bank repairs done though and that’s looking pretty good. It’s actually been so mild that I topped the grass at home on Monday because it’s been growing.
Fishing news a bit limited although stillwaters are fishing real easy and in the shop we now hear complaints that it’s all too easy, fisheries just can’t win can they?
Did the Sky Sports show on Friday and that was real fun with Keith Arthur always the professional. Amazing place in the new studio and first time for the show in HD so that meant even more make up for me. I showed a pretty Abel and their new nippers which generated 3 sales in the next couple days, amazing!
Today I fished the Wylye for only the second ever time and had a great time with the grayling. Couldn’t see, but reading the water and searching through with nymphs I had 33 fish along with a dozen spotties. Best grayling around 1-4 and these fish are noticeably more spotty than Itchen ones. Great to see Adrian Simmonds again, he really is a first class keeper.
That’s about it for now but only three weeks until I leave for S America to fish Jurassic Lake again and I have even started to get some flies made in preparation.
